As a part of Whittier Choice Neighborhood Initiative, the City of Boston will commission and install a long-term public art installation at the Phase 3 building currently under construction in Roxbury. The Public Art team is seeking a qualified firm to construct and install five sculptural sub-grade foundations before site construction is completed later this year. Reinforced Concrete Foundation: ● Dimensions: 4.5' x 4.5' x 4' H ● Reinforcement ( #6@6 T&B-Each Way), Grade 60 ● F'c=4000 psi. Formwork should be used ● Foundation subgrades will be over-excavated by 1 foot to allow for the placement of 12 inches of compacted Gravel Borrow or Crushed Stone wrapped in a non-woven geotextile. ● The maximum net bearing pressure under foundation should be 2000 psi Foundation and Plaza Pavement: ● The top of the concrete foundation is 6" below the finished grade. ● The plaza pavement consists of precast concrete permeable paver. Fabrication and installation of 5 public art sub-grade foundations, made of reinforced concrete. The contractor will also be responsible for backfilling/repaving the site after installation.
