The 24019AMLBAML is in Muhlenberg County, Kentucky, at 3717'31.45"N, 87 5'38.93"W and will reclaim approximately 47.5 acres adversely affected by previous coal mining operations. The project contains 12.7 acres of unstable highwall or unstable slopes. The project consists of eliminating approximately 5.2 acres of mining pits and reclaiming 4600 linear feet of highwall. The soil slopes above the highwall in some areas are unstable and migrating down slope and left unchecked would encroach into the historic cemetery at the church that dates to the 1800s. The pits will be backfilled with onsite mine spoil material at slopes no steeper than 3:1 with transitions as required. Blasting will not be permitted. The water in the pits will be treated and raised to a pH of 6 or greater prior to pumping for release. The backfill material for eliminating the highwall will be placed with moderate compaction effort in accordance with KYDAML Technical Specifications.
