Services to be provided: Drivers’ License Education & Test Preparation - Provide education, training, and assistance in obtaining a driver’s license, including preparation for written and road tests, application support, and guidance on eligibility requirements. - Lead drivers’ education classes to prepare participants for the written knowledge and road tests. - Offer multilingual instructions to ensure language accessibility and increase pass rates. - Develop and/or distribute multilingual educational materials covering Minnesota traffic laws and safe driving practices. Community-Based Access & Support, Engagement and Outreach - Provide services in locations convenient to community (e.g., community centers, workforce sites) and through phone intake and assistance. Services will be equally distributed to benefit residents of South and North Minneapolis. - Organize community events to promote awareness and accessibility of driver’s license education. - Collaborate with local organizations, Driver and Vehicle Service offices, and city agencies to connect residents with resources. - including participating in community hours in collaboration with OIRA at Careerforce South on Lake St. - Participate in OIRA hosted community hours at Careerforce south in order to: Walk people through the DVS website and help schedule community members for appointments, sign people up for drivers’ license classes, and offer orientation on driver’s license acquisition and process. - Offer individualized coaching and support to help participants navigate the licensing process. Evaluation & Training - Conduct pre- and post- training knowledge assessments to measure participants’ understanding of traffic laws and driving safety. - Offer train-the-trainer opportunities for community leaders and service providers to expand program reach.
