Body Dimensions Material: The Unit’s body shall be constructed of stainless, zinc alloy or galvanized steel. Outer Length (Overall): 170 inches maximum. Outer Width (Overall): 94 inches maximum. Height: 46 - 50 inches Tail-shelf: A minimum 24 inch long tail-shelf shall be included at same height as part of floor Compartments The utility body shall have minimum eleven (11) compartments total with outward opening doors on each side of the Unit: Four (4) front vertical compartment on the Unit’s driver side. Three (3) front vertical compartment on the Unit’s passenger side. One (1) horizontal compartment over wheel housing on the Unit’s driver side. One (1) horizontal side compartment over wheel housing on the Unit’s passenger side. One (1) rear vertical compartment on the Unit’s driver side. One (1) rear vertical compartment on the Unit’s passenger side. Tread Plates: Floor shall be minimum 12 gauge or 3/16 inch steel tread plate. Top of Compartments: Top of service body compartments shall have minimum 1/8-inch steel tread plate with welded toe guards on outside perimeter-top of body. Drain Holes and Splash Guards: Vertical compartments shall include drain holes with splash guards. All compartments shall be completely water-tight with automotive type non-porous door seals fastened on all doors. Rain guards for weather protection shall be included. Glue on type door seals are not acceptable. Door seals shall be replaceable. Doors shall be double shell 20-gauge panels for rigidity. Hinges shall be continuous with a stainless-steel pin. All door latches shall be recessed slam-type with tumbler locks on each vehicle keyed adjustable to compensate for wear. All vertical doors shall have double spring over center door closure. Horizontal doors shall have adjustable chains or cables on both sides of the doors. A master locking system shall be supplied, which shall consist of two (2) master locking system assemblies, one for driver side and one for the passenger side. The system shall be fully independent of the standard individual door locks. There shall be a provision for a padlock on the rear of the body which will lock the handle and hence the three full length compartments. Two (2) padlocks with keys shall be supplied for each Unit. Locking bar handles shall be designed to prevent handle rotation when padlocks are removed. All hardware shall be stainless steel construction. Driver Side Front Vertical Compartments The first four (4) front vertical compartments on the driver side of the Unit shall be manufacturer’s standard size. All four compartments shall be the same size. Please refer to Bid Solicitation Section 4.13.1 for picture examples of the compartment locations. Each front compartment shall be equipped with two (2) adjustable trays with adjustable dividers. Exact location of the hooks shall be determined at pre-build meeting. Passenger Side Front Vertical Compartments The first front vertical compartment on the passenger side of the Unit shall be equipped with steps for entry and be manufacturer’s standard size with double doors that shall be vertically hinged along the forward edge and rearward edge. The second and third front vertical compartments on the passenger side of the Unit shall be manufacturer’s standard size. An additional full-length step shall be installed under the body, beneath the first front vertical compartment referred to above. It shall be 16” from ground level. All step surfaces shall be constructed with non-skid material. Grab handles shall be installed at location subject to using agency approval. Please refer to Bid Solicitation Section 4.13.2 for picture example of the compartment locations and full-length step. Compartment doors are required on the passenger side to enclose the step to prevent items from falling from Unit while in transit. Doors shall have a double latch with sliding handle or a T-handle type arrangement. The passenger side compartment shall be equipped with four (4) adjustable trays with adjustable dividers. Adjustable trays shall be reinforced for strength.
