CRACK SEALING SPECIFICATIONS The Town intends to have all cracks sealed in a workman like manner on identified road sections. This includes all joints in pavement around manholes, catch basins, and pavement seams. Excessive sealant shall not be used in cracks along edges. The Town will not pay for excessive waste of sealant trailed from one crack to the next. Materials: A. Asphalt Cement - The asphalt cement shall be paving grade AC-10 or AC20 asphalt with a penetration of 75-100. B. Fibers - The fibers shall be composed of short length polyester having the following properties: Length ........................……… 0.6 cm Specific Gravity .........……… 1.32 - 1.40 Melt Temperature.......……… 480 degrees F. minimum Tensile Strength ..................... 75,000 PSI + 5,000 PSI Break Elongation ................... 33% + 8% (fully drawn) C. Mixing Temperatures - The sealant shall be mixed at the temperatures recommended by the fiber manufacturer but shall not exceed 400 degrees Fahrenheit.
