Jefferson County is soliciting bids for contracted Heavy Equipment Operators and Sawyers for Jefferson County wildfire fuel mitigation. The wildfire fuel mitigation will be along 371 miles (1,798 acres) of county-controlled rights-of-way and target 135 areas for an additional 1,000 acres near critical facilities and other non-rights-of-way areas. Jefferson County is seeking four teams of two individuals each, comprising of a heavy equipment operator and a sawyer. The contractor’s employees must have a good working knowledge of the principles and techniques of the heavy machinery and equipment used in wildfire fuel mitigation, as well as good working knowledge of safety procedures. The Contractor shall be responsible for knowledge of and compliance with all federal, state and local laws, rules, practices and regulations.
