1) Provide academic support/enrichment that occurs outside the student’s core instructional time. Tutoring may occur before school, during school, after school, and/or summer school. Tutoring may not be provided during or in lieu of Reading/Language Arts or Mathematics instructional minutes. Homework help is not allowed. 2) Ensure instruction, content, and curriculum is aligned to Arizona State Standards and complements that of the schools/LEA the student attends. 3) Ensure that instructional strategies are of high quality, based upon research, and specifically designed to increase the achievement and proficiency of low-achieving students to meet Arizona Academic standards at or above grade level. 4) Demonstrate a record of effectiveness in improving student academic achievement in Reading/Language Arts, Mathematics, History, Social Studies, STEM and/or Science. 5) Have an established plan of instruction in the areas of Reading/Language Arts, Mathematics, History, Social Studies, STEM and/or Science built upon initial assessment of each student’s skills in one or more of these subjects. 6) Provide research-based curriculum resources and instructional supplies aligned to support Arizona State Standards. 7) Administer research-based assessments to students participating in tutoring in identified tutoring content at least three times per year and report findings to the LEA program administrator as requested by the LEA. 8) Ensure that eligible students with disabilities and students covered under Section 504 may participate with necessary accommodations, consistent with a student’s individualized education program under Section 614 of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), or a student’s individualized services under Section 504. Tutors must provide appropriate accommodations and support to such students to ensure such students benefit from supplemental services. 9) Provide tutors with qualifications that align to current Federal/State requirements for K-12, include certifying in the state of Arizona, Arizona teacher certification appropriate to grade and content and current AZ DPS Fingerprint Clearance Card. Contractor/Vendor is required to ensure Fingerprint Clearance cards are always up to date. If not, contract can be terminated. Substitute teacher certifications do not qualify as Arizona teacher certification. 10) The following are required for Public & Private School Tutoring: a. Ensure that all instruction, content, and curriculum, are secular, neutral and non-ideological. b. Administer LEA requested programmatic student assessments in timeframes designated by LEA – assessment instruments will be provided by requesting LEA c. Ensure that all private school tutors comply with private school requirements regarding dress, training, and professional decorum.
