Morgue & Medical Examiner’s Office – Phase I: This proposed phase will add approximately 36,179 square feet to the existing facility and will replace the existing morgue in its entirety with a new and more functional structure. The new morgue is planned as an addition to the existing building and will include the following programmatic areas: Autopsy Suite (6 stations), special autopsy (2 stations), Intake/Special/Release Coolers, Pre-autopsy Prep, Observation, CT scan, Lodox Scan, Evidence Storage, Slide/Blocking, Tissue Storage, Photography Office, General Storage, Command Center and various other support functions. The ME Office will include office space for Staff Pathologists, Technical Support Staff and Men’s and Women’s Shower/RR/Locker areas and other support services. The functioning of the existing ME office space and Morgue will be maintained in operation until the new facility is completed and occupied. Site Modifications (will exist throughout all phases): The existing site configuration (vehicular circulation, parking, sidewalks, truck access, etc.) will be significantly altered to accommodate the expanded facility.
