A. Lawn Mowing and Turf Maintenance: o Mow all designated turf areas a minimum of once every seven days during the growing season (April through October) and as necessary during non-growing seasons. o Maintain grass height between 2.5 to 3.5 inches unless otherwise specified. o Use appropriate mowing equipment to ensure a clean cut and reduce stress on the turf. o Maintain safety standards as per OSHA guidelines to avoid any operational hazards. B. Edging: o Edge all sidewalks, pathways, curbs, and mulched areas at least bi-weekly to maintain a defined boundary. o Edging shall be performed using string trimmers or edgers to prevent damage to surrounding landscapes. o Ensure all edges are clean and straight to present a polished appearance. o Straight edging should not be done on paved trail sections due to the hazard of a bike tire falling into the groove, but rather at an angle. C. Weeding and Vegetation Control: o Conduct a thorough inspection of flower beds and public green spaces and remove all undesirable vegetation. o Implement pre-emergent and post-emergent herbicides as necessary, following all safety and application guidelines as specified by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). o Ensure all flower beds and ornamental areas are maintained free of invasive species and weeds. D. Trimming of Shrubs, Hedges, and Ornamental Plants: o Trim shrubs and hedges at least quarterly to maintain their natural shape and seasonal health. o Use appropriate techniques and tools to ensure health and aesthetics of all plants, following the best practices outlined by the American Society of Landscape Architects (ASLA). o Consult with landscape designers as needed to maintain the integrity of ornamental plants. E. Disposal of Clippings, Trimmings, and Debris: o All clippings, trimmings, and debris resulting from maintenance activities must be removed from the site immediately. o Dispose of all organic materials in accordance with local waste management regulations. o Recycling opportunities shall be pursued wherever feasible in line with city sustainability goals.
