Bexar County Facilities Management (BCFM) is seeking bids from contractors for the following scope of work: Adding a lightning protection system by furnishing and installing system at the Adult Detention Center South Tower. The purpose is to provide a low resistance path to safely ground lightning with electricity strike termination devices, down conductors, bonding and surge protection. The work area involves installing lightning protection on the roof level, installing conduits along the building perimeter and coring around the ground level. Work is expected to occur both inside and outside the secured fenced area. This scope consists of the following trades but not limited to: site work (core drilling in paved and landscape areas), selective demolition (trenching, core drilling in wall), concrete (paving and walk repair), masonry, roofing (patch & repair), sheet metal flashing, electrical system, among others. Refer to basis of design drawings and performance specifications prepared by GGC Engineers, including associated attachments for additional requirements, scope and information. Contractor is responsible for contracting with certified Lightning Protection Engineer to prepare signed and sealed stamped shop drawings for review and approval by County. Work will include: • Design, furnish, install and test for a complete lightning protection system based on drawings and performance specifications by GGC Engineers. • Connect existing security electronic equipment throughout the building to the lightning protection system • Exercise caution during site coring for the ground rods due to the existing underground utilities located adjacent to the building.
