1. PERSONNEL REQUIREMENTS: a. VDOT is seeking one (1), six (6) person crew Per LOT that shall be capable of working simultaneously throughout Fairfax County for mowing to include litter pick up or litter removal only services. b. Each crew shall consist of a minimum of six (6) people, one of whom shall be designated by the Contractor as crew foreman. c. The foreman/supervisor shall be capable of communicating in English both verbally and in writing and have a comprehension of the English language. capable of communicating in English to the public and give instructions to members of the Contractor’s crew. If the foreman/supervisor is deemed by VDOT not capable of communicating in English both verbally and in writing and does not have a comprehension of the English language, the Contractor will be notified, and a replacement foreman/supervisor will be required. d. The Contractor shall provide to the department the name and telephone number of an onsite local supervisor, who will be available during the specified working hours for immediate contact. The supervisor shall have the authority to take immediate action to correct conditions determined by the department to be unsafe, or otherwise not in accordance with the terms of the contract. The Contractor shall be able to communicate with VDOT personnel at all times. e. The Contractor’s personnel shall be expected to work without direct supervision from VDOT. f. All crewmembers shall be able to determine undesirable from desirable vegetation. g. Any desirable vegetation that is cut or removed shall be replaced at the Contractor’s expense. h. At least one member of the crew shall be able to maintain, and field adjust the equipment in order to maintain a continuous and productive operation. 2. EQUIPMENT DESCRIPTIONS: All of Contractor’s equipment shall meet the requirements listed below. All blades on mowing equipment shall be sharp to provide a neat appearance. Each Six-Man Mowing Crew shall have the following operational equipment: • Two (2) commercial self-propelled, walk behind mowers (36” or greater) • Five (5) commercial weed-eaters • One (1) leaf blower • One (1) hedge trimmer • One (1) mowing trailer • One (1) pick-up truck
