The Port of Houston Authority (the “Port Authority” or “Port Houston”) is seeking to engage the services of a registered professional engineering firm with expertise in corrosion inspection and management on marine assets. The Port Authority has been conducting a Facility Inspection and Condition Assessment Program (FICAP), which will be on-going during the time of this Project, in order to better understand the baseline condition of Port Houston marine assets at various Port Authority terminals. As part of the current asset management program developed by the Port Authority and FICAP, the marine assets program has been conceptualized to document and evaluate the condition of all corrosion protection systems. The 2025 phase of the program includes the inspection and assessment of corrosion systems on marine assets at all Port Houston operating terminals using the existing FICAP Corrosion Manual as a guide. This phase also requires verification of existing cathodic protection systems and integration of the new information into the Port Authority’s asset registry database and GIS system. This Corrosion Manual is intended to supplement the Maritime Structures Manual by providing a more complete indication of the current and future condition of maritime assets at Port Houston with specific focus on corrosion protection components, which were excluded from the scope of the Maritime Structures Manual, along with the base metals those components protect.
