Through this RFP, notice is hereby given that the City of Durham is seeking a qualified vendor to perform right-of-way tree planting services on City-owned property. The term of this Contract will be (4) years. The Contractor will be required to plant 4000 trees over the 4-year contract term. 1. Materials: a. All tree material shall be planted in accordance with the Durham Landscape Manual (see figure 2 on page 26) with a minimum caliper size of 2.5” - Ball and Burlap (B&B)/Field-Grown material for sites >4’ in width, and a minimum #15 nursery pot for containerized material for sites between 3’ and 4’ in width. b. In each of the project years (1 through 3) the ratio of B&B trees to containerized trees will be 1 to 1. 2. Methods: a. When the contract is executed, a list of materials will be provided for planting years 1-3 for the purpose of procurement (based on the information on the corresponding Cost Proposal Form). Subsequent planting lists for warrantee replacement will be provided no later than October 1 of each corresponding year. b. At the issuance of the notice to proceed, the first of ten Individual planting plans consisting of groupings of a minimum of 133 trees and maps indicating their locations will be provided. The locations will be indicated in the field with a survey flag and marking paint, all 1 color (white) for the purpose of Utility Location Services, all placed by City of Durham staff. At the time of marking, the adjacent properties will receive notification with an informational “doorhanger”.
