MCTS is seeking a third-party vendor that can provide de-escalation and mental health awareness training for its employees. Serious assaults on transit workers, especially transit operators, across the nation have tripled in the past 15 years, causing transit employees to fear violence on the job. The primary purpose of de-escalation and mental health awareness training is to minimize and mitigate the likelihood and probability of negative or problematic interactions with the public that may lead to transit worker assaults. MCTS also hopes to improve the customer experience by providing customer facing employees with the skills needed to better identify and react to members of the community who may be experiencing mental health issues.
