Connecticut recognized CTSOs must: • operate and function independently from CSDE; • enhance student learning through contextual instruction, leadership development, and real-world application; • function as an integral component of classroom curriculum and instruction and provide an extracurricular component; • build employability and career skills through hands-on demonstrations and work experiences; • provide opportunities for students to hold leadership positions at local, state, and national levels; • provide opportunities for students to participate in local leadership and competitive events to demonstrate knowledge and skills at district, state, and/or national conferences and to be recognized in an event in their career pathway; and • facilitate networking with business and industry partners and career professionals which may lead to opportunities for career development (e.g., internships, apprenticeships, and professional seminars).
