1. Perform appropriate laboratory testing on materials for use as fill, backfill, and paving subgrade in accordance with project specifications. 2. Observe conditions of bottom excavations prior to foundation preparation, including proof-rolling and other subgrades testing. 3. Evaluate foundation bearing conditions with a Dynamic Cone Penetrometer (ASTM STP 399). 4. Observe placement of fill and backfill. 5. Perform in-place density test as required by project specifications. 6. Where deficiencies are noted during fill and backfill placement, suggest and observe remedial actions, including reworking and compacting. 7. Provide documentation of events. 8. Observe foundation drainage and drainage materials. 9. Observe the placement of fill and backfill to test compliance with project specifications.
