It is the intention of Katy ISD to establish a contract a with highly qualified Vendor to provide PRODUCE for our Food and Nutrition program to campuses and facilities. • Web-based online ordering system - available from all eighty (80) kitchen locations is required. • Substitutions - vendors shall contact the food service central office staff for approval of any substitutions prior to delivery. Substituted products shall be of the same, or higher quality, and the price shall be equal to the price for the specified item(s). • Shortages - vendor will notify Katy ISD one (1) day prior to delivery of any backorder or shortage of items. Any items that the vendor fails to deliver on the designated, scheduled delivery date must be reshipped by 10:00 a.m. the following day. • Farm to School Produce- must be picked up at the Texas Department of Agriculture's designated commodity warehouse when available and stored until the delivery date to the district schools. • Labels for processed items - should state the name of product, list of ingredients, nutrition information, weight, production date, and "Use By" date. Online nutrient analysis for all processed items preferred. • Produce Quality- all items are to be packed in accordance with U.S. #1 grade standards. • Recalled products – if instituted and product has been delivered, the awarded vendor will notify Katy ISD staff both verbally and in writing within twenty-four (24) hours with all pertinent information regarding the recall. • A company representative shall be designated by the awarded vendor to coordinate the program, be responsible for all products ordered, and communicate directly with Katy ISD regarding deliveries, services, and products.
