The Public Works Department, from time to time, has the need to retain the services of a consulting engineering firm to supplement City engineering staff. The consultants are expected to assist in performing traffic signal timing modifications and traffic operations support for the City’s 61 signalized intersections, which are connected to the City’s Transparity/Omni Closed Loop Interconnect System. The consultant shall be thoroughly capable of modifying signal operations and implement signal timing (in the field and through the central software system) on ATC controllers as well as modifying and implementing timing on the Transparity/Omni Closed Loop Interconnect System. The consultant shall also be thoroughly capable of troubleshooting Ethernet communication issues associated with the City’s fiber optic communication system that is used for communication with the various traffic signals and CCTV system throughout the City. In addition, the consultant shall be capable of performing various types of traffic engineering services including traffic signal warrant studies, pedestrian studies, engineering and speed survey studies, preparation and review of LOS or VMT traffic studies, traffic control plans, and the preparation of design plans, estimates and specifications for the construction of various types of traffic control devices.
