1.1.1.The architect is Stevens and Associates of Brattleboro, Vermont and Easton Architects of New York, NY. The construction manager is D.A. Sullivan & Sons of Northampton, MA. 1.1.2.The building is an existing 1929 two-story 11,000 square foot masonry structure used by over 30 Vermont exhibitors during the Big E held mid-September to early October. The building is unoccupied beyond the Big E event except for booth fit-up and set up/knock-down. The construction schedule allows for full occupancy during the event, seeing as many as 1.4 million visitors. No work or obstructions are planned during the pedestrian-only event. 1.1.3.Restoration of the slate roof, flashings, masonry work, windows and doors, cupola and tower, and pediment are included in the construction scope. 1.1.4.The building has a fire alarm but does not have a fire sprinkler and has exposed timber roof components supported by unprotected noncombustible construction. 1.1.5.Grounds: The Eastern States Exposition owns and maintains the fairgrounds surrounding the building. The State of Vermont does not control streets and parking or security for the site. They also have additional resources that can be available at cost or negotiated to contractors during the offseason such as WIFI. 1.1.6.The work takes place outside the State of Vermont, Massachusetts codes and law apply. 1.1.7.The preliminary schedule has a construction start date of 05/01/25 and completion date of 8/25/25 for phase 1, and a construction start date of 10/1/25 and a completion date of 11/15/2025 for phase 2 (consisting solely of window removal and replacement).
