1. General 1.1 Summary: This solicitation specification is for providing a Synthetic Turf Playground Fall Surface, to cover the current Poured in Place Fall Surface system in the ADA playground at Sarah Collins Elementary. The school is located at 1200 Parkins Mill Rd, Greenville, SC 29607. The Synthetic Turf Playground fall surface will be installed over the existing Poured in Place surface. Surface must be installed no later than seven days after the work has started. Start date should be twenty(20) days after notice of award, or an agreed upon time if weather is a limiting factor. 1.2 Description: Synthetic Turf Playground surfacing will be the playground surfacing system. The finished surface shall be porous and comply with critical fall height requirements of playground equipment that is currently installed on the playground. The surface color will be a Field Green Lime blend. 1.3 Work: Awarded contractor shall provide all necessary materials, labor, tools, and equipment to perform the work for the installation of the Synthetic Turf Playground surfacing. System is to be installed with current playground equipment and fencing in place. Removal and replacement is solely on the awarded contractor and equipment must be re-installed by a certified playground equipment installer. 1.4 Installation: Awarded contractor shall have previously installed Synthetic Turf playground surfaces for 3 consecutive years with no legal action filed against them. Contractor will provide detailed information on similar projects that have been completed in the past. Manufacturer’s detailed installation procedures shall be submitted with bid proposal and made part of the bid specifications. 1.5 Current Surface: The playground is covered by a Poured in Place surfacing with a cushion layer underneath. The surface, and cushion layer, will remain place. It will remain intact, as it currently exists. There is a gravel and stone dust base with a geotextile “weed barrier” fabric covering under the existing Poured in Place playground. The gravel and stone base, along with the weed barrier, shall remain intact and undisturbed. It is sloped to provide drainage. See attached files. 1.6 Site Conditions: Site must be secured against vandalism during the installation. Contractor is to proceed with installation only when existing and forecasted weather conditions permit Synthetic Turf playground surface installation to be performed according to manufacturers’ written instructions and warranty requirements.
