An emulsion used for spray patching potholes and filling large cracks. The emulsion shall be supplied in totes and conform to the specifications listed in Section 3.0. for a minimum of 120 calendar days for DP1, 60 calendar days for CRS2-Mod, and 45 days for CRS2, starting on the day the Department takes possession of the product. There are 3 types of emulsions that may be used and will vary depending on the weather conditions, seasons, and production at the refinery: The summer spray patch emulsion to be used on surface temperatures above 70° F shall be CRS-2. It shall conform to AASHTO M 208 for CRS-2. The spring and fall spray patch emulsion to be used when surface temperatures are below 50°F and when air temperatures reach 32° F and above overnight is a modified CRS-2. The winter spray patch emulsion to be used when surface temperatures are approximately 20° to 30° F and when air temperatures are below 32° F is a highly modified CRS-2 such as Idaho Asphalt Supply DP-1 or approved equal. Totes to be filled with 1-ton, approximately 225 gallons, of the above specified material.
