A. Field Survey: 1. The consultant shall drive all or the majority of public roads in Chatham County, identifying an approximate number of historic resources for intensive survey during Phase Two. The Consultant shall assess whether previously surveyed properties are extant and will note properties demolished or otherwise removed from their sites from the time of original survey. The consultant shall take high-resolution digital photographs of previously surveyed properties and note changes since the time of original survey. 2. The Consultant shall study how individuals who relocated to the area—particularly scientists, doctors, professors, and other professionals—shaped residential architecture. Were distinctive homes built in the county’s rural and wooded areas? Did academic and research communities contribute to experimental or modernist designs? This study wil provide a clearer picture of how this era shaped Chatham County’s architectural landscape. 3. Special attention should be paid to BIPOC owned farms from both the pre-and postbellum periods.
