The proposed project will reconstruct Robert Street N between E 11th Street and Kellogg Boulevard. The proposed improvements include reconstructing the roadway pavement, widening pedestrian access routes, greening of the corridor, improving intersection operations and safety, changing the current 5 lane section to a 3 lane section including a center two-way left-turn lane, and upgrading infrastructure. The following elements address project needs: • Changing roadway configuration from a five-lane roadway (including center turn lane) to a threelane facility with a center two-way left-turn lane to better fit existing and projected vehicular traffic needs and improve intersection safety with shortened crosswalk distances. • Enhanced public realm with wider boulevards, ADA upgrades, better lighting, wider transit platform space, additional greening with trees and planter areas, designated mid-block parking and drop-off bays. • Upgraded infrastructure including street lighting, signals, storm sewers, green stormwater infrastructure and utilities. • Development of enhanced transit stops which include curb, truncated domes, concrete flatwork, and miscellaneous underground infrastructure. • Construction of infrastructure associated with six enhanced bus stop platforms to accommodate existing and future Metro Transit service. This project will be constructed by the Contractor with City forces performing streetlighting work. During the construction progression, access into businesses and parking facilities must be maintained at all times including those located on abutting side streets. Various private utility improvements will take place within the project limits prior to and during construction of the proposed improvements. Known private utility work includes improvements planned by Xcel Energy, District Energy, private telecommunications and private property owners. The Contractor will need to coordinate with all public and private utilities so that work continues unimpeded.
