The City of Walker is seeking written quotes from qualified firms who are interested in providing and planting street trees as noted below. The trees will be installed during the Spring of the 2025 planting season in residential developments in the central area of the City of Walker. Respondents are asked to recommend tree species that would be tolerant of local conditions in a street side / parkway planting microclimate. Preferred species Autumn Blaze Maple and/or Red Sunset Maple. The number of street trees to be ordered will be twenty four (24). Specifics: 1. All trees must be top-quality grade-A selections with a 2 ½” caliper minimum. 2. Quoted prices must include the grade-A tree, installation (including one TreeGator bag, appropriate fill soil, fertilizer, mulching and staking), a one-year full replacement guarantee from the time of planting, and one year of fertilizing after planting. 3. All street trees will be planted within the public street right-of-way. 4. The contractor will be responsible for contacting Miss Dig and having the sites flagged. 5. The City will conduct an onsite meeting with the contractor to stake an approved planting location for each tree prior to installation. 6. Planting must be completed no later than June 1st. 7. The contractor must provide each homeowner with written instructions on how to prune and care for the trees.
