Specifications include, but are not limited to: The City of Ames is located in Story County in central Iowa and has a population of approximately 66,000. Electric service is provided by the City’s municipal electric system to a majority of residents and businesses inside the Ames city limits. The City owns and operates two (2) power generation facilities with a total of four (4) generating units. Two (2) of the four (4) generating units are combustion turbines used as secondary sources of power generation. They are not typically used to generate power outside of emergency situations or during periods of expensive market power. The existing control systems for the combustion turbines are antiquated and in need of replacement.
