1. Crews will move in a systematic manner over the specified project area and install bud caps on planted seedlings. 2. Installation method will be as follows: For the Breathe Easy Mesh Caps: Open the top of the mesh with fingers, squeeze the seams and slip over the leader leaving room for bud growth (approx. 1”). Hold securely in place with 1 staple parallel to the stem at the bottom of the cap on both sides of the terminal leader (two staples per tree). Do not staple through the stem. If properly installed the top of the bud cap should stay open. Approximately 97,228 caps of this style will be installed. For the IFA Bud Cap Sticky Caps: Remove the backing from the cap. Grasp the terminal bud with one hand and fold the sticky parts together around the stem with the other. The remaining trees will require this style of bud cap. 3. Equipment specifications are as follows: breathable bud caps and sticky bud caps will be supplied by the State. Contractor will need to supply bags to hold the bud caps, industrial staplers and ¼ inch staples
