For all stainless-steel service clamps or saddles, the manufacturer’s welding procedure shall be qualified by the ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code, Section IX, Welding and Brazing Qualifications. Welds and base metal shall pass the acceptance test of ASTM A262, Method A. All stainless-steel service clamps shall be fully passivated and either chemically or mechanically descaled and cleaned according to ASTM A380. Mechanically descaled and cleaned items shall receive a final cleaning according to Table A2.1, Part II of ASTM A380. All chemical descaling or cleaning shall be done by full immersion in the applicable chemical solution. At least ten percent (10%) of the quantity of stainless-steel service clamps for each size ordered but not less than two (2) shall be tested for metallic iron or iron oxide contamination per Section 7.2.5.3 of ASTM A380.
