The Easterly Administration Building suffered damage to its heating and cooling equipment because of a severe storm in August 2024. The storm caused all four (4) of the building’s condensers to fall over on their sides, which resulted in damage to and failures of each of the units. District staff investigated each of the condensers with the manufacturer’s technical support. The damage was deemed too great for repairs and equipment replacement is recommended. The heating and cooling capacity of the building have been reduced, however; the plant’s boilers are currently providing the additional heating load necessary for the building. The Easterly VFR Condensing Unit Replacement Project will include installing four (4) VRF condensing units, reconfiguring refrigerant piping, testing and flushing refrigerant lines, associated electrical work, and operational testing. The equipment is located on the roof of the building and will require the use of a crane for removal and installation activities. Prevailing wage requirements will be applicable to this contract.
