The goal of the project is to remove the dam and 4,000 cubic yards of the accumulated sediment to reduce flood and erosion risk, protect water quality, restore the stream channel, and improve fish passage. The project includes full removal of the concrete structure and removal of most of the accumulated sediment. Construction plans accompany this Request for Construction Bids (Attachment A). Work tasks will generally involve removal of the concrete dam and appurtenances; removal of the accumulated sediment; removal of the existing chain-link fence surrounding the impoundment; stream channel restoration; installation of two stone weirs (if necessary for fish passage); and site restoration (See Attachment A). Seed and mulch will be performed as part of this contract. Other woody plantings will be performed by others in the future. Refer to the Restoration Planting Plan completed by Middlebury College for required seed mixes (Attachment B).
