University Medical Center ("UMC") is seeking a strategic partnership with a medical equipment management company to manage the current inventory of medical equipment efficiently and for ways to control capital costs for medical equipment and associated service costs without compromising patient care, quality, or staff productivity. UMC seeks a strategic partnership to devise a way to more efficiently manage UMC's assets and share risk while enhancing clinical and operational performance. UMC wants a partner to develop an annual technology assessment and real-time data and analytics reporting system to provide visibility into what it costs UMC to maintain its medical equipment. This detailed reporting and the support of trusted consultants will help UMC keep track of every service event, including how long it lasts and how much it costs. UMC desires to use this information to predict service events regularly before they occur and gauge the necessity of replacing devices. As a result of implementing this annual technology assessment, UMC hopes to create an inventory of each piece of equipment, the acquisition date, the amount and cost of service for capital planning priorities for the following year, and five-year capital plans for larger, more expensive assets. UMC wants its equipment planning to be more proactive, efficient, and cohesive. Additionally, UMC desires this partner to balance relationships with multiple vendors that service the equipment or original equipment manufacturers (OEMs). UMC expects this partner to implement processes that would improve overall system uptimes while controlling the costs associated with repairs. Ultimately, this partner's service program should reduce the actual cost per equipment unit, creating dollars that can be spent more effectively where needed.
