All material shall meet all applicable specifications of the New York State Department of Transportation unless the Hamilton County Highway Superintendent modifies the same. The acceptance of any materials by the County Highway Superintendent shall not preclude subsequent rejection if materials are found to be defective or fail to comply with specifications. The contractor agrees to furnish the material bid to any designated points in Hamilton County upon 24 hours advance notification in any quantity required between 3,000 gallons and 10,000 gallons per day. All material will be mixed and applied as directed by the Hamilton County Highway Superintendent. Solid Flake Calcium Chloride shall meet the requirements of ASTM D98 and upon analysis shall show not less than 77.0% CaCI2. The calcium chloride shall be in the form of dry, loose flakes, pellets or granules and shall be fine enough to feed through the common types of spreaders used in roadwork. Caked material or damaged bags shall be rejected. The Calcium Chloride shall be packaged in moisture-proof bags containing not more than 100 pounds each. The name of the manufacturer, name of product, net weight, and the percentage of calcium chloride guaranteed by the manufacturer shall be legibly marked on each container. The flake materials shall be purchased in pallet lots. Liquid Calcium Chloride shall meet the requirement standard specification for ATSMD98 and AASHTO M144. It shall be applied as a 35% solution through an approved pressure distributor to be delivered at any point in Hamilton County. Basis of payment Liquid Calcium Chloride shall be by the gallon. Liquid Magnesium Chloride shall be active at an ambient temperature of at least -15 C (5 F). The supplier shall certify that the material supplied meets test methods SHRP-H-205.2 for effectiveness (Strategic Highway Research Program Handbook of Deicer Test Methods). It shall be applied as a 28-30% solution through an approved pressure distributor to be delivered at any point in Hamilton County. Basis of payment for Liquid Magnesium Chloride shall be by the gallon.
