The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County Public Library (Metro) is soliciting proposals for library services for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (LSDHH). Reporting to the staff of the Nashville Public Library's Library Services for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (LSDHH) department, the Digitization Specialist oversees and is responsible for all aspects of the program to digitize a collection of approximately 1,000 analog audiovisual assets on VHS, u-matic, optical disc, and film, with a focus on the VHS and u-matic collections, first. The Digitization Specialist must be able to conduct some work on-site and must be based in or near Davidson County. The Digitization Specialist must have prior experience both managing projects and digitizing analog audiovisual material related to the Deaf and Hard of Hearing community. The Digitization Specialist is required to have at least three months experience in extracting closed captioned information from analog materials. Each annual phase of the project will focus on the successful digitization of 250-300 VHS tapes from the collection.
