The Maricopa County Department of Public Health (MCDPH) is soliciting responses from community-based organizations, federally qualified health centers (FQHC), transportation providers who either have an existing relationship with a health system or the ability to partner with one or more for the purposes of this pilot, and other interested parties to assist in the development of a pilot program intended to reduce transportation barriers for patients within Maricopa County seeking cancer screenings. The primary intent of this pilot program is to determine if supporting increased access to cancer screenings and prevention appointments will have a positive impact on the number of screenings conducted and the number of people attending screenings. Leveraging the funds provided by the Health Access Program Initiative (HAPI) grant provided by the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), this program aims to ensure that all residents, particularly those in underserved and vulnerable populations, can receive timely and necessary medical care. If this pilot program is deemed successful, MCDPH plans to apply the lessons learned to develop a new solicitation aimed at expanding services across Maricopa County.
