The Kent County Purchasing Division is soliciting bids for the purchase of two (2) steel, large capacity, open top, walking/live floor, transfer semi-trailers. The material to be hauled in the trailer will be nonhazardous, non-liquid, municipal solid waste brought into the facility by waste haulers from municipal, commercial, or industrial sources. Much of the waste stream can contain or be comprised of construction and demolition debris including items like wood, drywall, insulation, and shingles. The trailer will be loaded over the side with a front-end loader or material handler. The trailer will be hauled multiple times per day from the North Kent Transfer Station located in Rockford, MI to a regional landfill located 40 miles or less away, on all season roads. Trailers are exposed to landfill conditions with unimproved roads, soft terrain, muddy terrain, uneven terrain, and icy conditions. Heavy duty building quality, stout recovery hooks and reinforced push/pull points are necessary in these conditions and should be taken into consideration.
