Scope of Work Sandblasting and painting of Village-owned fire hydrants. The contractor shall provide all labor, equipment, and materials to sandblast, prime, and paint fire hydrants. Volume/Estimated Quantity The quantities identified herein are estimates quantities. The Village does not guarantee any specific amount and shall not be held responsible for any deviation. This contract shall cover the Municipality’s requirements whether more or less than the estimated amount. The Municipalities reserve the right to increase and/or decrease quantities, add or delete locations or municipalities during the term of the Agreement, whatever is deemed to be in the best interest of the Municipalities. Sandblasting The contractor shall remove all paint from fire hydrants leaving the entire metal surface of the hydrant exposed via high pressure air blasts using eco-friendly crushed glass media, or approved equal by the Director of Municipal Services, or their designee. Any paint remaining on the hydrant shall be removed using a wire brush. The hydrant caps are to remain on during the blasting process. Fire hydrants shall be completely free of old paint and grime prior to application of primer or paint. Any hydrants leaking after sandblasting shall be reported to the Director of Municipal Services, or their designee immediately. Painting The Contractor shall paint all hydrants using one (1) coat of Rust Oleum V7400 Universal Metal Primer (off-white) or approved equivalence, if approved by the Director of Municipal Services or their designee, pursuant to the manufacturer's specifications for complete coverage. After the primer coat has completely dried, the Contractor shall apply one (1) finish coat of Rust Oleum V7400 Safety Yellow or approved equivalence, pursuant to the manufacturer’s specification for complete coverage.
