The City of Greenville installed brick crosswalks with concrete headers on each side in the downtown area in 2002. Some of the concrete has experienced significant deterioration and requires removal of unsound concrete, adding vertical dowel bars, forming and pouring concrete patch material. The Project will be done in two phases. Phase 1 is non-MDOT and includes intersections of Cass Street, Grove Street and Montcalm Street with M-91. Traffic control will be provided by the City for complete closure of side street crosswalks. Phase 2 will include those crosswalks located in M-91 and M-57 right of way. The City of Greenville will obtain a permit from MDOT to do this work and provide all necessary traffic control. At this point it is unknown how best to accomplish this work. There is a possibility that M-91 could be closed and the Contractor perform the work without any traffic. However, part-width construction or night work are potential alternatives. Therefore, the Bid Form includes additive allowances for those options. Adjacent HMA and bricks will need to be removed as part of this Bid, but replacement of those items will be by others. The City will coordinate work between Contractors.
