Replacement of Bridge No. 1102400 on US 219 (Garrett Highway) over the Youghiogheny River. The new bridge will have a clear roadway width of 32′-0″ with two 11-foot-wide travel lanes and a 5’-0” shoulders. The proposed structure will be a 55’ long single span galvanized steel beam bridge. The project includes removal and replacement of the existing bridge, installation of pre-drilled steel H-piles, relocation of the Youghiogheny River within the vicinity of Bridge No. 1102400, construction of a new roadway for the realigned portion of US 219 and Mount Pleasant Road where it ties into US 219, removal of existing portion of US 219 roadway once the new portion is built, stream restoration work, construction of stormwater management swales and a submerged gravel wetland, milling and resurfacing, wedge and level, and full depth pavement reconstruction. Traffic will be maintained on the existing bridge and roadway while the new bridge and section of roadway are being built, temporary signals will be used to construct the roadway tie-ins, and a temporary road will be constructed to maintain traffic on Mount Pleasant Road.
