1.0 SCOPE OF WORK 1.1 The City of Cedar Rapids intends to establish a contract with a contractor who has the ability, labor, materials, and equipment for grinding of downed trees that have been collected by others and transported to the Beverly Park Gardens. 1.2 The contractor shall provide all expertise, personnel, tools, materials, equipment, fuel, supervision and all other incidental costs and facilities of any nature to execute and complete the grinding of trees as directed by the City. The sole purpose of this contract will be to grind trees at Beverly Gardens Park coming from City streets and rights-of-way. Horizontal grinding is preferred but not required. 1.3 The contractor will not be responsible for the collection or transport of trees. The Contractor will grind the material at Beverly Gardens Park and maintain the processed material into a stockpile. Pricing is requested as an all-inclusive, firm-fixed, price per cubic yard of processed woodchips. 1.4 A final pay volume will be determined by a topographical survey of the stockpiles. Contractor is responsible for ordering, securing, and paying for topographical surveys. Surveys will take place after the debris is reduced. The site will be surveyed one time at the completion of processing. 1.5 Woodchips will remain in the stockpile after grinding. 1.6 The minimum HP of the processing equipment shall be 450 HP. Support equipment to load the processor and maintain the mulch into a single stockpile shall be incidental to the CY price. 1.7 The mulch shall be reduced to a size attractive to potential buyers of the material. On average processed mulch should be less than 3 inches wide and less than 12 inches long. 1.8 There is no guaranteed minimum or maximum volume of debris for grinding.
