•Estimate of how many washers are purchased on an average annual basis oAn average of at least 10-15 washers are purchased each grant cycle. oUnknown how many washers may be purchased outside the grant program. •Specify that the contract will cover all counties in the State of Iowa oBidder will be able to deliver, install, and service buyers across all 99 counties. oBidder will connect all washers to the existing water and drainage system and supply all hoses and items needed to ensure units operate correctly. oBidder will provide all parts to install washers. oBidder will ensure each unit operates to 100% functionality. •Details about what’s being washed and what the mechanical specifications are for the washer oThe washer must meet the specifications as defined in NFPA 1851 Standard on Selection, Care, and Maintenance of Protective Ensembles for Structural Fire Fighting and Proximity Fire Fighting. oThe washer must be an extractor type, designed for the removal of soot and chemicals, manufactured for the cleaning of firefighter turnout gear (jacket, pants, liners). oThe washer must be programmable to permit multiple formulations for adjustments of detergent application, water temperature, water level, cycle type/function, and cycle time. oThe washer shall not apply a g-force of greater than 100 G or must have the capacity to adjust the drum revolutions not to exceed 100G. oThe water temperature of the washer must not exceed 40-degree Celsius (105-degree Fahrenheit). oThe washer will include a series of steps for filling the wash basket, adding detergent, performing multiple rinses, and including separate extractions between wash and rinse steps. oThe washer will be front-loading (no top-loading with or without agitator). oThe washer will handle a minimum 30lb. capacity. oThe washer will be designed to handle specialized cleaning chemicals formulated for firefighter turnout gear (jacket, pants, liners). oThe washer will be a hard-mount washer to allow for higher extraction rate. •Contract will be available to all departments in the state oThe contract should be available for use by anyone, not just DIAL.
