The purpose of this project is to develop a new Comprehensive Plan for Dubois County, Indiana. The Plan will serve as the guiding policy for the County for a 5-year period. Pursuant to Indiana Code 36-7-4-502, the Plan must include: 1. A statement of objectives for the future development of the jurisdiction; 2. A statement of policy for the land use development of the jurisdiction; 3. A statement of policy for the development of public ways, public places, public lands, public structures and public utilities. Specific areas of focus should include, but are not limited to: Community Profile—including an overview of the County’s history, location, population analysis, and cultural analysis; Economic Issues and Factors—related to the current business climate, growth potential and overall economic projections for various sectors including but not limited to industrial, commercial, agricultural, professional and tourism; Community Vision – Vision for the future of Dubois County based on economic and demographic research, community input, and the input of elected and appointed officials and county staff; Redevelopment Opportunities; Transportation/Traffic/Infrastructure—including all modes of travel with specific emphasis on regional corridors, potential connecting thoroughfares, pedestrian and bicycle connectivity, and identification of needed expansions and improvements, incorporating the County’s Safe Streets for All Plan (SS4A); Public Services—including countywide fiber buildout, regional sewer district, streets, veterans’ services, agricultural and health assistance; Health and Wellness–Describe current indicators of health, life expectancy, quality of healthcare, and availability of healthy food and drink. Identification of community needs to improve the overall health profile.
