1. This RFP is for establishing a contract to perform concrete finishing. Work shall include Removal of old concrete, pouring of new concrete to grade, finish, seal coat, backfill, clean up and haul away debris. Most of the work will be sidewalks, aprons, curbs, and dumpster pads using necessary steel mesh and/or rebar with required rock base. Work shall be done on an as needed basis. Larger projects may be bid separately. 2. Work included under this contract shall be supervised and approved by Larry Hellard, Utility Services Supervisor. 3. Contractor shall be responsible for a total cleanup of all waste materials and shall leave the site clean and safe by filling in all holes, trenches, etc. and back-filling with top soil, grass seed and straw. 4. Contractor shall furnish a cost estimate for each job to be completed. Cost estimates shall be submitted on forms supplied by the Department of Grounds and Custodial Support. 5. It is anticipated that $25,000 - $75,000 of work will be needed this year. There is no guarantee of quantity mentioned in this solicitation and The Board is obligated only to the extent of the needed services during the term of the contract. 6. Contractor must be licensed to perform work within the State of Kentucky. Contractor agrees to comply with all requirements and all applicable Federal, State, Local, and industry laws and regulations. 7. Please include at least 3 references of work. References must be for educational institutions or similar public agencies and for similar work performed. References should include the name of the institution, a contact name, phone number and email. 8. The Contractor shall be responsible to obtain all necessary permits for work performed. Concrete Specifications 1. Concrete sidewalks are to have a minimum of four (4) inches of compacted #57 rock base. 2. Concrete sidewalks shall be 3500 psi concrete with fiber unless otherwise specified. 3. Concrete sidewalks shall be a minimum of four (4) inches thick and some shall be six (6) inches thick, the thickness to be determined by the Fayette County School Board. 4. Ramps and steps shall be required to meet ADA Handicap codes. 5. Sidewalks are to have expansion material every thirty (30) feet, with control joints every five (5) feet. 6. Replacement sidewalks, tied to existing concrete shall be tied together with rebar, drilled in the existing concrete to prevent settling. 7. Concrete flatwork shall be 6” thick 4000 psi with ½” steel reinforcing bar in a 24” square pattern. Concrete shall be with fiber. 8. An invisible water based saline and siloxane sealer such as AQUAPEL shall be applied within 24/48 hours after concrete is walkable.
