The Glynn County Airport Commission seeks to extend the life of asphaltic airfield pavements at St. Simons Island Airport at McKinnon Field (SSI) thru a comprehensive maintenance program as recommended by FAA guidance. This program will extend asphalt apron pavement life by routing, cleaning, and sealing cracks and joints, and applying P-608R seal coat. Apron pavements will be re-marked to complete the crack sealing and seal coat work. Preparation will include sweeping and cleaning of apron pavement. Portions of the work, including seal coat installation, are to be performed during overnight apron closures to mitigate impacts on airport users and tenants. The program will also include the relocation of approximately 550 LF of airport service roadway, consisting of the removal of mixed asphalt pavement and the provision of at-graded milled asphalt surfacing. Work will include restoration of disturbed areas and marking of a vehicle access lane across the apron.
