One Inch Fish (Fyke) Trap Nets: A) Trap overall length excluding the lead net is approximately 16 feet. The entire trap and lead will be treated with black (tar type) net coat to reduce overall weathering and enhance longevity. B) FRAME – Two 4x5 foot fiberglass frames placed three (3) feet apart. Center braces running vertically on each frame. C) HOOPS – Five (5) steel hoops tapering from three (3) to two (2) feet in diameter front to back. The first hoop placed three (3) feet from the second frame and the remaining four (4) hoops approximately two (2) feet apart. D) IMPORTANT - all terminal, overhand, anti-backout knots need to be cinched down directly against the previous knot such that the terminal overhand knot will not snag on mesh. E). MESH - One-(1”) inch square (bar measure) knotted nylon netting, (king type) or equivalent, 125-pound test. Mesh to be tied so as to suspend from hoops and frames using size 21 tarred nylon twine. Mesh to be attached to frame with double half hitch knots on one (1) inch intervals, every third knot to be “locked “with an overhand locking knot to prevent loosening, and unraveling should the twine break. Entire frames and hoops to be wrapped with 3/16” diameter solid braided nylon rope to prevent abrasion to twine hanging the mesh. This wrapping is to be knotted every two (2) feet to prevent loosening and unraveling in case of a break. Trap mesh will have cod end with purse string closure
