The Florida Forest Service works to provide a level of fire management to reduce threats to life, property, forests, and other related at-risk wildland resources, while promoting natural resource management to meet the requirements of Section 590.01, Florida Statutes. Section 590.01, Florida Statutes: Wildfire protection. —The Florida Forest Service has the primary responsibility for prevention, detection, and suppression of wildfires wherever they may occur. The Florida Forest Service shall provide leadership and direction in the evaluation, coordination, allocation of resources, and monitoring of wildfire management and protection. The Florida Forest Service shall promote natural resource management and fuel reduction through the use of prescribed fire and other fuel reduction measures. The Florida Forest Service currently utilizes the Trakka TC375 gimbal as part of its aerial surveillance, wildfire detection and fire management operations. To enhance operational efficiency and improve real-time data acquisition, the integration of an automated sensor operator system is required. After thorough market research and evaluation of available technologies, it has been determined that Overwatch Imaging is the sole source vendor capable of meeting the specific technical and operational needs of this initiative.
