Furnish (1) modified rotary drill, truck or track mounted; with operator(s) to drill 9-5/8 inch minimum diameter holes in soil and rock; To install Department Furnished or Vendor Furnished Railroad steel up to forty (40) feet in length and weighing 130 Lbs. per linear yard minimum. The length of railroad steel placed shall range from a minimum of 8 feet to a maximum of 40 feet as directed by the engineer. Drill must have rigging and cable to lift entire lengths of rail and place and seat in the bottom of drilled holes. Drill must be capable of drilling and installing the railroad rails in a double row arrangement in a minimum of 3 foot center to center spacing between the rows and between the rails. Upon receipt of a delivery order, the Vendor shall schedule an onsite project meeting with the engineer to discuss the project limits, expectations, required shoulder off-set, railroad rail alignment, etc. and to determine if the Department needs to remove overhead obstructions for the drilling equipment. Vendor must be capable of drilling steel at the proposed alignment established by the Engineer and of a consistent alignment conducive to attachment of cribbing. Drill must be capable of drilling though embankment material and into bedded rock as directed by the Engineer. Vendor must install rails into drilled holes and must seat rail in the bottom of drill holes to provide firm bearing in the bottom of drilled holes. Drill rig must be configured to offset drill; Drill must reach out (offset) a minimum of 8 (eight) feet from side of drill carrier vehicle to center of drilled hole. Drill rig configuration should minimize protruding into opposing lane of traffic, allowing opposite lane of traffic to remain open as much as possible.
