Mowing is divided into a “brush hog area” and a “mow area”. The area designated as the “brush hog area” will be cut to achieve a mowing height of less than 6 inches. The areas designated as the “mow area” will be cut to achieve a mowing height less than 3 inches. Care will be taken to avoid damage to pipe clean-outs, flushing valve boxes, or other treatment system appurtenances that may be hidden from view by the overgrown grass/brush. AMLD personnel will clearly mark these items in the field using stakes and orange ribbon prior to the first mowing. If damage occurs to these items in subsequent mowing, the contractor will repair the damage at no additional cost to the State. A 12” perimeter around pipe clean-outs, valve boxes and other treatment system appurtenances will be “weed wacked” to ground level.
