The California Energy Commission’s (CEC’s) Clean Transportation Program announces the availability of up to $10,000,000 in grant funds for projects that will install light-duty electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure in rural communities. Eligible projects will demonstrate business and technology models for the deployment of public light-duty EV charging infrastructure to support rural communities and those that travel through rural communities. All applications must clearly demonstrate how they will provide convenient, accessible, and reliable charging to these communities, especially those that are low-income and/or disadvantaged communities. A project that receives incentive funding from another CEC grant funding opportunity (GFO) or block grant incentive project is not eligible for this GFO. Minimum Project Size Applicants must propose projects that will install a minimum of 50 charging ports OR install charging stations that can simultaneously supply at least 900 kW to vehicles when requested. Projects can be comprised of installations at multiple project sites.
