Provides legal advice, counsel, services, training, consultation and opinions to City Management and City Commission on a wide variety of assignments, including but not limited to: • Ordinance and resolution drafting • Land use and zoning matters • Review of procurement documents related to RFQs, RFPs, and ITBs • Code compliance and environmental matters • Various forms of litigation • Drafting and review for legal correctness and acceptability of legal documents, contracts, settlement agreements, severance agreements, releases, bargaining agreements and other legal drafting, as requested. • Real estate transactions and related matters • Eminent domain and inverse condemnation • Sunshine, public records laws, conflict of interest, and other ethical matters • Preparation of legislation and/or development of policies and procedures • Charter review and preparation of charter amendments/ballot amendments • Contract law and administrative law, interpretation of governmental agency rulings • Corporate and commercial law • Monitoring, reviewing, and advising on all state and federal legislation that may affect the City’s interest or business • Guidance to the City, as well as representation when necessary, regarding personnel actions, policies and procedures • Consultation with other attorneys representing the City in litigation (The City’s liability insurance carrier retains counsel to represent the City and, if needed, appearance in such litigation on behalf of City) • Furnishes legal representation at meetings, as requested
