1. Overview: The landscaper/maintenance contractor will be responsible for maintaining the landscaping at Great Island, a 60-acre property owned by the Town of Darien. The scope of work includes ensuring the property's cleanliness, safety, and aesthetic appeal. This encompasses regular mowing of grass, weed whipping around trees and posts, daily inspection of pathways, beach, and bridle path, walking paths, barricades and signs. Additionally, the maintainer will attend to maintenance tasks across the property's grounds as needed. 2. Maintenance Tasks: Weekly Grass Mowing/Trimming: Mow all grass areas on Great Island once a week to maintain a neat and manicured appearance. Weed whip around trees, posts and at any other fixed objects. Trim hedges where appropriate. Pathway Inspection: Daily inspection of all pathways, including bridle path on Great Island to ensure they are free of divots, ruts or potholes and clear of sticks, debris, or any obstacles that may pose a safety hazard. Arrange barricades as required for pedestrian access/restrictions. Beach Maintenance: Daily check of the beach area on Great Island for debris, litter, or any safety hazards. Beaches to be cleaned as needed so they are free of any excessive debris. Organic debris to be removed by Public Works from designated area. Tree Maintenance: Remove any small branches and stack where DPW can chip. Larger branches and trees to be removed by Public Works. Fertilize Application: Contract to apply fertilizer/control products on grassed areas at the direction of DPW with material purchased from DPW. Application with be 3 times throughout the season.
