The existing carbon in the adsorbers is to be completely removed and properly disposed of by the contractor in accordance with any Federal, State or Local requirements. All costs associated with removal and disposal of the existing carbon shall be included in the unit bid price. 3.2 The adsorbers will then be filled with Continental Carbon CC-SULFPLUS nonimpregnated, coal based activated carbon or equal material. 3.3 The adsorbers at the Runnemede Pump Station contain non-impregnated virgin coconut shell activated carbon. The carbon at this location shall be replaced with like material. (General Carbon 4x8S or equivalent material) 3.4 The 10-foot diameter dual bed adsorbers at the Main Plant – contain 17,000 lbs. of Calgon Centaur HSV granular activated carbon. The carbon at this location shall be replaced with a similar and equal material. 3.5 The contractor will follow the instructions and recommendations of the manufacturer of the activated carbon. 3.6 All carbon awaiting installation shall be stored by the contractor in a cool and dry location.
